Greek Revival Farmhouse at the Foote Farm, Cornwall, Vermont

This farmhouse is part of a subdivision near Middlebury, Vermont. Called the Foote Farm, the developers are clustering the houses so that the century-old farm can continue to function.

This house is located at the edge of the pasture and woods. The trick with the house's site was to keep the house's massing small yet maximize views out back over the fields.

We chose simple but correct Greek Revival detailing for the house. This includes large cornerboards and cornice as well as an elaborate front door.

The garage is detailed as a barn; there is a nice breezeway between the barn and house. The side porch faces the road and an upper lawn.
