After flooding destroyed nearly forty dwellings, concerned Plainfield citizens proposed expanding the village to higher ground.  The new forty homes would be affordable and owned, and walkable to the village.  The homes are clustered around a common with shared garden space and a small community center.  

The project became adopted by the Town as they applied for federal disaster relief. The project is still awaiting funding.
