| A couple has brought a magnificent farm in northern Vermont back to life; the nearly intact ca. 1880 farmhouse was paneled in butternut and even has a lead bathtub. The adjacent carriage barn had been converted to an apartment in the '70's, however, and needed to be totally refurbished. |

The carriage barn was integrated into the house and the main entry moved to a new addition. The lower level became a large kitchen and family room. A new fireplace with wide pine paneling was used to separate the spaces. The kitchen, with soapstone counters and custom cabinetry, looks out over the meadow.

Elsewhere in the house, a '70's sunporch was completely rebuilt with double-hung windows and beadboard. The house's exterior was completely restored, and the owners lovingly refinished all the historic
interior finishes.
